United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has announced that American and Israeli forces are expected to gain “complete control of Iranian skies” within days, as Operation Epic Fury entered its fifth day.
Speaking at a Pentagon press briefing, Hegseth struck a confident tone, declaring, “America is winning. Decisively, devastatingly and without mercy. In under a week, the US and Israel will have complete control of Iranian skies.”
General Dan Caine, providing operational updates, confirmed that the strikes have hit over 2,000 Iranian targets and sunk more than 20 naval vessels. He added that the operation will expand inland, hitting deeper into Iranian territory, and described Iran’s military command and control as being “in a bad way.”
The briefing took a tense turn when Hegseth was questioned about the missile strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh school, which, according to Iranian state media, killed between 160 and 168 elementary school girls. Hegseth said, “All I can say is that we’re investigating,” offering no further details.
The Pentagon emphasized that the operation remains ongoing, with US and Israeli forces focused on securing strategic objectives across Iranian airspace and territory.
