Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik said on Friday that petrol prices were likely to rise owing to the war.
Expressing his thoughts on Samaa TV programme 'Mere Sawal with Absar Alam', he said the government was taking measures regarding petrol and gas supplies and assured that there would be no shortage of either commodity in Pakistan.
Malik said Pakistan possessed reserves of petroleum products sufficient for up to one month. He warned that any petrol pump involved in hoarding would face sealing.
He said the prime minister had chaired a meeting on petroleum products and directed action against hoarding. Malik said Iran had appreciated Pakistan’s effective diplomacy.
Malik said the opposition had sought to politicise every matter, while the government had pursued effective diplomacy. “Our position on the Iran issue is known to the world,” he said, adding that war had been imposed on Iran.
He said the international community was acknowledging Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
