Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, visited South Waziristan to review the current security situation along Pakistan’s western border and assess operational preparedness, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the visit, the Field Marshal paid tribute to martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the defense of the homeland. In Wanna, he laid a floral wreath at the martyrs’ memorial and offered prayers, emphasizing that their sacrifices form the foundation of Pakistan’s security and stability.
Field Marshal Munir was briefed on the security situation, ongoing operations based on intelligence, and measures taken for effective border management. He also received detailed updates on developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, including Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq.
The COAS met with officers and troops deployed in border areas, appreciating their professional skill, operational alertness, and high morale during engagements. He commended their unwavering commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Highlighting the use of Afghan territory by anti-Pakistan elements, Field Marshal Munir said that exploiting Afghan soil for terrorist attacks against Pakistan is unacceptable. He stressed that all necessary measures will be taken to neutralize threats emanating from across the border.
He also urged the Afghan Taliban to cease supporting terrorism and militant groups. According to him, only if the Afghan regime stops backing terrorist activities can lasting peace between the two sides be achieved.
The Chief of Defence Forces lauded the operational readiness of formations deployed along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and expressed full confidence in their coordination and capabilities. On arrival in Wanna, the Field Marshal was welcomed by the Corps Commander Peshawar.
