In a shocking act of terrorism, militants set an ambulance on fire in Karak, burning injured Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel alive.
The brutal attack, carried out on February 23 in the Qila Shaheedan area, has drawn widespread condemnation for targeting the wounded during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to details, Fitna-ul-Khawarij first attacked a Federal Constabulary post in Qila Shaheedan, Karak, using a quadcopter. Following the strike, two ambulances from Rescue 1122 reached the post to evacuate the injured personnel.
As the ambulances were returning with the wounded, the militants launched another attack.
Both ambulances were targeted. One ambulance was set on fire and burned along with the injured personnel inside, while the second ambulance managed to evacuate its injured passengers safely.
The driver of the torched ambulance and a Rescue 1122 official were also burned in the blaze.
Martyred personnel identified
The injured personnel who were martyred after being burned in the fire include:
-
Sepoy Murad Gul
-
Sepoy Ayan Khan
-
Lance Naik Adil Khan
All the martyred Federal Constabulary personnel were residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sepoy Murad Gul and Sepoy Ayan Khan belonged to Hangu district, while Lance Naik Adil Khan was a resident of Mansehra district.
Injured shifted for treatment
Other injured individuals include Havaldar Sabir; Muhammad Yousuf; Hanif; and ambulance driver Ahmed Hussain. All are local Pakhtuns from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and have been shifted to hospitals in Bannu and Karak for medical treatment.
The militants reportedly filmed the entire February 23 attack and later released the footage on social media. Observers say such acts are intended to spread fear and terror among the public.
Targeting wounded condemned as barbaric
The attack has been described as one of the worst acts of terrorism by Fitna-ul-Khawarij. Targeting ambulances and attacking wounded personnel, especially during Ramazan, has been widely condemned as open barbarity and an act against Islamic teachings.
It is important to note that in Islam, even during war, harming the wounded is strictly forbidden. There is no religious justification for targeting innocent or injured individuals.
By attacking local Pakhtuns, critics say the perpetrators have once again demonstrated that their actions have no connection with Islam or humanity.
Security forces vow continued operations
Authorities have reiterated that the blood of the martyred soldiers will not go in vain. Security forces have pledged to continue operations against Fitna-ul-Khawarij until the last militant is eliminated.
The tragic incident underscores the ongoing threat of terrorism in the region, even as security forces remain determined to restore peace and stability.
