As smartphone launches ramp up, Motorola may have more planned than expected.
While the company has already teased the Edge 70 Fusion, a new leak suggests a more powerful Plus variant could also be on the way.
The current wave of smartphone premieres has been unusually transparent, with brands revealing extensive teasers ahead of official announcements.
Motorola took that approach even further by nearly confirming earlier rumors about the upcoming Edge 70 Fusion, which is expected to launch on March 2. However, the company has remained silent about another device that has now surfaced in leaked renders.
Edge 70 Fusion Plus could join lineup
According to renders shared by YTECHB, Motorola is preparing to launch the Edge 70 Fusion Plus — a mid-range smartphone that builds upon the base model.
The device is expected to arrive in four colors:
-
Pantone Blue Surf
-
Orient Blue
-
Sporting Green
-
Silhouette
Like the standard version, the Plus model reportedly features a “nylon and linen-inspired” back panel design.
Display and durability upgrades
Both models are said to include a 6.78-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. They are also expected to carry IP68 and IP69 certifications for dust and water resistance.
However, the Plus variant could stand out with a 1.5K quad-curved AMOLED display and a 144Hz refresh rate. This would replace the flat panel used in the regular Edge 70 Fusion.
Camera improvements
The biggest difference between the two devices may be in the camera system.
While both phones could feature a 50MP main sensor, the Plus model is expected to upgrade the selfie and ultra-wide cameras significantly. The front-facing camera may jump from 32MP to 50MP, and the ultra-wide lens from 13MP to 50MP.
The leak does not clarify whether other specifications will differ between the two models.
Expected specifications
The standard Edge 70 Fusion is rumored to feature a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset.
It is expected to launch in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, paired with 128GB or 256GB of storage.
Battery capacity appears to be a key highlight, with a reported 7,000 mAh battery and support for up to 68W fast charging.
Strong competition
The Edge 70 Fusion series will enter a crowded mid-range market.
Google recently announced the Pixel 10a. Meanwhile, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17e, and Nothing could launch the Phone (4a) next week.
Later in March, Samsung is also anticipated to introduce the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57.
While upgraded cameras could strengthen Motorola’s position, the curved display may not appeal to everyone.
Some users find curved panels less comfortable for daily use, and for others, the design trend has lost its novelty.
