Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, father of Bollywood star Salman Khan, is recovering after a recent health scare. The 90-year-old writer had been hospitalized since February 17 after experiencing high blood pressure.
Close friend and lyricist Javed Akhtar recently shared an encouraging update about Salim Khan’s condition.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Akhtar said that the veteran writer is improving.
“Salim is fine now. He’s okay and recovering. He’s sitting on a chair and talking, and I mean, he has improved,” he said.
The senior writer was admitted to Lilavati Hospital.
Doctors initially informed the media that he had suffered a minor brain haemorrhage and underwent a medical procedure shortly after admission.
Pulmonologist Dr Jalil Parkar said that the bleeding was minimal.
“There was minimal brain haemorrhage. A procedure called DSA was done today morning,” he said at the time.
Doctors describe condition as mild
According to the medical team, the haemorrhage was very minimal and did not require major surgery.
However, due to his age, doctors kept Salim Khan on ventilator support temporarily.
He was taken off the ventilator the following day after doctors assessed that his condition had stabilized.
Family and bollywood friends visit
Since his hospitalization, several family members and friends from the film industry have visited him.
Among the well-known personalities who stopped by the hospital were Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Sangeeta Bijlani, Nadeem Qureshi, and Lulia Vantur.
Their visits reflected the strong support from the Bollywood community during his recovery.
