Airlines in Pakistan have raised ticket prices after a recent increase in jet fuel costs.
Domestic flight fares have gone up by Rs2,800 to Rs5,000 per ticket, affecting routes from Karachi to Lahore, Islamabad, and other major cities, according to airline sources.
International flights have also become more expensive, with fares increasing by Rs10,000 to Rs28,000 per ticket. Flights from Pakistan to the Middle East and Central Asia have seen an increase of up to PKR 15,000, while tickets to destinations such as Toronto and Manchester have risen by as much as Rs28,000. Economy-class one-way fares to Toronto and Manchester now exceed Rs250,000.
The hike follows a recent increase of Rs154 per liter in jet fuel prices, bringing the cost to Rs342 per liter. In response, domestic and international airlines have adjusted their fares to reflect the higher fuel costs.
