The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced relief for motorcyclists following the sharp increase in petrol prices across Pakistan.
Under the new initiative, motorcycle owners in the province will receive petrol at the previous price through a subsidy scheme introduced by the provincial government.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi announced a petrol subsidy of Rs55 per litre to provide immediate relief to people who rely on motorcycles for daily commuting.
The move comes after the federal government recently increased petrol prices by Rs55 per litre, which significantly raised transportation costs for millions of citizens.
Subsidy to cover 40 litres of petrol
According to the government’s plan, motorcycle owners registered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will receive a subsidy on 40 litres of petrol. This means eligible motorcyclists will receive Rs2,200 in relief, helping them offset the impact of the recent price hike.

Officials said the initiative is aimed at protecting lower and middle-income commuters who depend heavily on motorcycles for transportation.
Millions expected to benefit
According to the provincial government, around 14 million motorcyclists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to benefit from the subsidy. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information Shafiullah Jan confirmed the details of the relief package.
