Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei has said that attacks by the United States and Israel are an attempt to gain control over global energy resources.
Speaking in an interview with a Chinese television channel, Baqaei said attacks during negotiations reflect Washington’s lack of seriousness towards the talks. He said strikes on Iranian oil installations spread toxic smoke.
He said the US and Israeli attacks are an example of organised hooliganism. According to him, the United States and Israel seek influence not only over Iran but also over the global energy sector.
Baqaei said Iran is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and security. He said the United States should be held accountable for placing global peace and security at risk.
He added that Iran attaches importance to friendly relations with Arab countries in the region and described the use of Arab territory against Iran as regrettable.
Ismail Baqaei further said Iran is targeting only US military bases and installations. He said Iran does not seek war but will mount full defence in the face of aggression.
