In Pakistan’s glittering entertainment industry, sharp remarks are not uncommon, but seasoned artists often demonstrate grace that elevates them beyond controversy.
Recently, a light exchange between senior actress Atiqa Odho and actor-producer Fahad Mustafa concluded amicably, with both offering mutual apologies and bringing the matter to a dignified close.
Before that discussion had fully settled, host Faisal Qureshi was asked during a private television channel’s Ramadan transmission about a statement made by fellow actor Nauman Ijaz.
In a previous interview, Nauman Ijaz had remarked that when a makeup artist repeatedly approached him, he responded by saying he was not like Humayun Saeed or Faisal Qureshi who would need makeup. He added that his primary focus remains on portraying his character, and therefore he does not rely heavily on makeup, often simply wiping his face with a damp towel.
While neither Humayun Saeed nor Faisal Qureshi initially responded to the comment, Qureshi has now addressed the matter publicly.
He stated that even if Nauman Ijaz made such a remark, he does not believe the intention was to belittle anyone. Smiling, Qureshi added that Nauman Ijaz is naturally handsome and may not require makeup at all.
Qureshi further suggested that Nauman Ijaz may have been emphasizing his focus on character-driven roles, whereas actors like himself more frequently portray leading hero roles.
He concluded by noting that incomplete statements often give rise to controversy and that social media frequently amplifies issues beyond their original context.
