Catherine, Princess of Wales has reportedly made her feelings clear about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returning to the UK this summer.
According to insiders, the future Queen views the timing as “very delicate” amid ongoing royal tensions.
The Princess of Wales, often described as the Royal Family’s “peacemaker,” is said to be less than enthusiastic about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s anticipated UK trip.
The couple is expected to return for the countdown ceremony for the Invictus Games 2027. However, sources claim Kate does not believe the visit would ease tensions within the monarchy.
“Kate’s not thrilled, and that’s putting it mildly,” an insider told an American outlet. “She feels there are lines that, once crossed, can’t simply be erased.”
Message to king charles
According to the source, Kate has conveyed her position directly to King Charles III.
“She has let the King know her feelings on the matter,” the insider shared, emphasizing that she views the situation as more than a routine family visit.
In her view, the Sussexes returning “like nothing happened” feels like a betrayal, particularly after the events of 2020.
Lingering impact of 2020 exit
Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to the United States.
Following their departure, the couple made a series of public claims against senior members of the Royal Family, beginning with their widely watched interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Insiders suggest Kate has not forgotten what she sees as the damage done to the institution during that period.
“She does not believe bringing Meghan back into the fold could help the monarchy. In her view, it would inflame everything,” the source added.
The tipster further explained that Kate believes royal service is a long-term commitment.
“Service is long-term. It’s not conditional,” the insider said, reflecting what they described as the Princess’s core belief about duty within the monarchy.
This perspective reportedly shapes her reservations about the Sussexes’ potential return.
