The government has initiated measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products across the country in view of global tensions and fluctuations in oil prices.
According to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), a decision has been taken to discourage hoarding during the prevailing uncertainty in prices so that no artificial shortage arises in the market.
Ogra stated that oil marketing companies will be allowed to regulate supply on a temporary basis, while retail outlets will receive petrol and diesel in line with their previous sales ratios.
The regulator maintained that the supply management step forms part of routine proceedings necessary to maintain stability within the system.
Ogra made it clear that ample stocks of petrol and diesel are available in the country and that there is no shortage. The authority urged the public not to heed rumours.
