Journalists from several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended an important briefing at Inter-Services Public Relations on Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, where officials stated that Pakistan has no dispute with Afghanistan or the Afghan people.
Officials said the operation will continue until there are credible guarantees and practical steps from the Afghan Taliban regime to end all patronage of terrorism. They said there was no haste in concluding the operation.
According to the briefing, the Afghan Taliban regime has been acting as a central “proxy master” for terrorism in the region. Through facilitation of several militant organisations, the regime has become a threat to regional peace and stability. Officials said the regime must choose between relations with Pakistan and support for terrorist groups. Operation Ghazab Lil Haq forms part of Pakistan’s continuing campaign against terrorism.
The militant group described as Khawarij was said to be promoting a distorted and self-styled interpretation of Islam. Officials said Islam has no link with terrorism or suicide attacks. The killing of innocent people, oppression of women, attacks on mosques and their use for militant activities stand in contradiction to religious and social traditions. Clerics from all schools of thought have declared the struggle against these Khawarij and their patrons as an act of the highest jihad.
Pakistan, the briefing said, has been targeting hideouts, facilitation centres and border-adjacent launching pads linked to Fitna-al-Khawarij and Fitna-al-Hindustan. All actions are intelligence-based and directed solely at terrorist infrastructure. Reports suggesting civilian populations have been targeted were described as contrary to the facts and a disregard for the loss of innocent Pakistani lives caused by terrorism.
In line with the requirements of transparent reporting, the Ministry of Information and security institutions have been regularly informing the media and the public about progress in Operation Ghazab Lil Haq. Verified video reports of the actions have also been issued.
Groups facing persecution under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan have described the operation as a welcome development. Officials also said false and fabricated claims are being spread through Afghan official social media accounts and by sections of Indian-backed media during the operation.
