The Sindh government has announced a series of emergency measures to cut energy consumption and government spending as petroleum prices rise amid tensions in the Middle East.
The decisions were taken during a Sindh cabinet meeting, where officials approved several steps aimed at conserving resources and managing economic pressure.
One of the major decisions taken by the cabinet is the temporary closure of educational institutions across Sindh. According to sources, schools will remain closed for two weeks starting tomorrow until March 31.
Officials said the measure is intended to reduce fuel usage and operational costs during the current situation.
Four-day workweek for govt offices
The Sindh cabinet also approved a four-day working week for government offices across the province. Sources said offices will now operate only four days a week, with an additional weekly holiday introduced to reduce fuel consumption.
The decision is expected to lower transportation and operational costs within government departments.

As part of cost-cutting measures, the cabinet also approved a province-wide ban on iftar parties. Officials said the step aims to reduce unnecessary government expenditures during a time of economic strain.
Govt vehicles to face 50% fuel cut
Another significant decision is the reduction of fuel consumption for government vehicles by 50%. Sources said the measure will significantly cut down fuel expenses and encourage more efficient use of official vehicles.
In a move to demonstrate solidarity during difficult economic conditions, the Sindh chief minister and provincial ministers have decided not to draw salaries for the next three months.
The decision will also apply to advisors and special assistants, who will similarly forego their salaries for three months, according to sources.
Managing economic pressure
Officials said the decisions were taken in view of the tense situation in the Middle East and the rising prices of petroleum products, which are putting pressure on government finances.
The cabinet believes the steps will help reduce government expenses and ensure better use of resources during the current economic challenges.
