Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar emphasized Pakistan’s preparedness to respond robustly in the face of any 2019-like aggression from India ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Kakar highlighted the role of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and judiciary in addressing candidates’ and political parties’ grievances during general elections, aiming to attract foreign investments through the Special Investment Facilitation Council.
Regarding potential aggression from India, Kakar asserted that Pakistan would respond firmly, echoing the actions taken in 2019 if necessary. He underscored Pakistan’s defense capabilities and cautioned against misconceptions about the country's response.
Kakar acknowledged the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and India, attributing it to the unresolved Kashmir issue and the potential for various triggers to incite further exchanges.
Addressing the imminent general elections, he acknowledged the terrorism threat persisting in certain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Kakar reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to tackle any security threats.
In an interview, the caretaker premier addressed several crucial issues. He responded to queries about the Senate elections’ postponement resolution, stating that it does not hold legal implications as the Senate's decision isn't obligatory. He assured that the government's stance against this resolution was presented in the House and a report would be submitted as required.
Regarding decisions about specific constituencies’ elections due to security concerns, he suggested that the Election Commission is the appropriate authority. He emphasized that both the Election Commission and the Judiciary are equipped to handle complaints from candidates and political parties.
Discussing Balochistan’s situation, the Prime Minister highlighted the involvement of banned militant groups recognized as terrorists abroad. He noted recent terrorism incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing engagements with the Afghan Taliban, and observed changes in behavior.
He reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to combating terrorism independently, emphasizing its resilience despite substantial sacrifices.
On the repatriation of illegal aliens, he highlighted wide support for the decision among Pakistanis, asserting that undocumented aliens have no right to stay.
Regarding economic achievements, the Prime Minister cited reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), meeting significant tax collection targets, and curbing government expenditure. He emphasized the Special Investment Facilitation Council's role in attracting foreign investments from several countries, facilitating ventures in agriculture, IT, mining, human resource training, energy, and road infrastructure.
