Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Founder Imran Khan has filed his response in the Supreme Court on the government's intra-court appeal against the nullification of the NAB amendments.
Former prime minister Imran Khan took a stand that measures like the NAB amendments discouraged foreign investment and investors. The appeals against the annulment of the amendments should be dismissed, he sought. The Supreme Court has reserved its decision on the appeal to restore the NAB amendments.
Imran Khan adopted the stance that amendments to laws to save someone's corruption do not happen even in a banana republic, as corruption has destructive and negative effects on the economy.

The former prime minister said that during the hearing, Justice Athar Minallah told him the amendments will benefit him too, adding that his position was clear that it was not about him, but about the country.
Imran Khan said that parliament should legislate in accordance with the Constitution, adding that if the NAB misuses its powers, the amendments should be made to the extent of stopping it. He cited the Toshakhana case against him as an example of misuse of powers of the NAB.
On June 6, the Supreme Court reserved verdict on the government’s appeals challenging the annulment of the amendments to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) rules.

A five-member larger bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, heard the case, with proceedings conducted via video link.
During the hearing, Imran Khan said the NAB amendments will make things easier for him, but emphasized that the country's bankruptcy must be addressed. Khan, who appeared via video link, suggested that the Supreme Court appoint the NAB chairman, citing the bureau was not under his control even during his tenure. He also referred to the judiciary as the "third umpire".
