US President Donald Trump reportedly told Fox News anchor Brian Kilmeade that he is “not happy” with Iran’s appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader.
The development comes after Iran’s Assembly of Experts elected Khamenei to succeed his father, Ali Khamenei, following his death in recent U.S. and Israeli attacks.
According to Kilmeade, Trump expressed his displeasure privately, saying, “I am not happy”, though the US president has not made a public statement on the matter.
The remark underscores growing US concern over Iran’s new leadership amid escalating regional tensions.

Iran elects new supreme leader
Following the death of Ali Khamenei, Iran’s powerful clerical body, the Assembly of Experts, convened to select a new leader.
The 88-member body voted to appoint Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s highest political and religious authority, making him the third supreme leader in the Islamic Republic’s history after Imam Khomeini and Ali Khamenei.
An official statement issued shortly after midnight Tehran time confirmed the Assembly’s decision.
