The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Punjab government on the bail application of one of the suspects in the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.
A two-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, heard the bail application of suspect Hammad Nazir on May 9.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah asked the lawyer of Hammad Nazir what the charge against his client was. At this, the lawyer said that the suspect was accused of injuring a police constable by hitting him with a baton, but according to the medical report, the policeman was injured by stone-pelting from protesters.
Justice Athar Minallah asked whether the suspect was present on the spot. "Is there any CCTV footage showing the presence of the accused?"
The On lawyer said the suspect was a shopkeeper and was not present on the spot, adding that no CCTV footage was produced showing his presence.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah asked what evidence of the presence of the suspect has been. The lawyer said no CCTV footage was produced and there was no evidence.
The court adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period while issuing notices to the Punjab government.
