Authorities have decided to strengthen cybersecurity measures in educational institutions by making digital safety training mandatory for private schools in Islamabad.
The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has issued instructions to schools to immediately begin cybersecurity courses. Under the directive, all teachers and non-teaching staff must complete an online cybersecurity training program by March 8.
Students from Grade 9 and above have also been instructed to register for digital safety courses aimed at increasing awareness about online risks and responsible internet use.
To address emerging challenges linked to artificial intelligence and evolving digital threats, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has partnered with Cisco to support the initiative.
Officials said students will be able to complete cybersecurity and digital safety training during summer vacations, as part of broader efforts to promote a safer digital environment across educational institutions.
