Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has described Zionism as a “threat to humanity,” alleging that it has played a direct or indirect role in conflicts affecting the Islamic world since the establishment of Israel.
In a strongly worded statement on X, Asif said Zionism would be seen as a driving force behind any large-scale conflict that breaks out in the Muslim world. He further claimed that major global powers were “hostages” to Zionist influence and alleged that the ideology has controlled the global economic system for over a century.
The defence minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s position as a nuclear power and praised the country’s armed forces for safeguarding national sovereignty.
He paid tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs and veterans, stating that their sacrifices have ensured the country’s security. Asif also acknowledged the role of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, commending his leadership during Pakistan’s nuclear tests, which formally declared the country’s nuclear capability to the world.
“May Allah shower blessings on all those who played a role in making us a nuclear power,” Asif said, adding that Pakistan’s defence strength is recognized globally.
Regional tensions and Iran
Referring to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Asif claimed that despite Tehran’s willingness to reach agreements, war had been imposed upon it. He alleged that the broader agenda behind regional instability includes extending Israeli influence towards Pakistan’s borders.
He also expressed support for Palestine, saying, “May Palestine be free,” and prayed for Pakistan’s continued strength and security.
Asif further claimed that a joint agenda involving Afghanistan, Iran, and India could be centered on hostility towards Pakistan. According to him, the objective would be to make Pakistan’s borders insecure and surround the country with adversaries.
He urged Pakistan’s 250 million citizens, regardless of political or religious differences, to remain united and vigilant against what he described as external conspiracies.
Call for unity in Islamic world
The defence minister concluded his remarks by calling for unity among Muslim-majority countries, urging them to recognize common challenges and act collectively.
He offered prayers for Pakistan’s sovereignty, the protection of its armed forces, and peace and freedom for Palestine.
