The Privatisation Commission board has approved the inclusion of Fauji Fertiliser in the Arif Habib consortium for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). The final approval will be obtained from the federal cabinet.
The meeting was chaired by adviser to the prime minister on privatisation, Muhammad Ali. The commission confirmed that Fauji Fertilisers has met all eligibility and regulatory requirements.
Arif Habib Limited is leading the consortium for PIA. The inclusion of Fauji Fertiliser remains subject to final approval by the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP) and the federal cabinet.
The Arif Habib consortium had earlier been declared the successful bidder for PIA. The Privatisation Commission board also recommended a revision in the fee structure.
The change in the fee structure is aimed at strengthening the financial autonomy of the institution and reinforcing reforms. The Privatisation Commission board reaffirmed its resolve to carry forward the privatisation process in a transparent, competitive and rules-based manner.
