Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi criticized the ongoing US-Israel military offensive against Iran, calling it unnecessary and urging both sides to resume negotiations.
He stressed that military force cannot solve the crisis and highlighted the need for dialogue to prevent further escalation
During a press conference in Beijing, Wang Yi condemned the military actions, stating the offensive “should never have happened.”
He urged an “immediate” halt to hostilities, emphasizing the importance of returning to the negotiating table to resolve tensions peacefully.
Force will not resolve crisis
Wang Yi underscored that using military power cannot bring lasting solutions.
“A strong fist does not mean strong reason. The world cannot return to the law of the jungle,” he said, warning against unilateral aggression.
The Chinese diplomat also remarked that he sees no public backing in Iran for regime change.
This suggests that external attempts to alter Iran’s government through force are unlikely to gain legitimacy or support from its population.
China’s statement comes amid escalating military strikes by the US and Israel targeting Iran’s infrastructure, including oil facilities and strategic sites.
Beijing’s call for diplomacy reflects growing international concern over the risk of a broader regional conflict in the Middle East.
