Sydney Sweeney has opened up about long-standing rumors surrounding her body and past comments about breast reduction.
The actress said she spent much of her teenage years feeling insecure, but her role in Euphoria helped her develop confidence and embrace her body.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Sydney Sweeney revealed that she struggled with body confidence growing up.
The 28-year-old said she developed early and was already wearing a 32DD bra size in sixth grade, which made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance.
“I grew up with boobs. I was wearing a 32DD in sixth grade, and I never felt confident,” she said.
Sweeney added that during her teenage years she often tried to hide her body and struggled to find clothing that made her feel comfortable.
‘Euphoria’ helped change her perspective
Sweeney said her outlook began to change when she took on the role of Cassie in the HBO drama series.
Playing the character helped her recognize the importance of confidence and self-acceptance.
“It wasn’t until I played Cassie in Euphoria that I started realising it’s actually powerful to be confident,” she said.
The actress emphasized that people should embrace their bodies, adding, “Our bodies are incredible. We should embrace them and feel really good in our skin.”
Sweeney also explained how her personal struggles with clothing inspired her to launch her own lingerie brand, Syrn.
She recalled difficulties finding comfortable undergarments that provided the right support for her body type.
“I’d always be like, ‘This fit doesn’t work. I don’t have the support I want. The straps are digging into my shoulders or it’s itchy and riding up,’” she said.
The actress eventually began collecting inspiration and ideas, creating a Pinterest board with thousands of images before deciding to turn the concept into a brand.
She said the goal was to give women the freedom to choose styles that suit their mood and comfort throughout the day.
The actress had previously spoken about considering breast reduction when she was younger.
In a 2023 interview with Glamour UK, Sweeney revealed that during high school she once planned to get surgery to reduce her breast size after turning 18.
However, her mother advised her against it.
“Don’t do it. You’ll regret it in college,” her mother told her at the time.
Sweeney said she is now glad she did not go through with the procedure.
“I like them. They’re my best friends,” she said while emphasizing that every body type deserves appreciation.
