Renowned Pakistani actor Shujaat Hashmi has passed away after a period of illness.
The actor, celebrated for his contributions to both television and film, will be remembered for his decades-long career that won the hearts of audiences across Pakistan.
The funeral prayer for the late actor will be held tonight at 9 PM at Jamia Naeema, where family and fans will gather to pay their respects.
Shujaat Hashmi was a prominent figure during the golden era of Pakistan Television (PTV). He made his acting debut in the 1970s with the PTV drama Kohar and quickly became a household name. His iconic role as Moladad in the drama Waris remains etched in viewers’ memories.
In addition to television, Hashmi also had a remarkable film career. His first Punjabi film, Chhad Buray Di Yaari, released in 1975, followed by a leading role in the 1979 film Khaak Aur Khoon. He later appeared in popular films like Wadda Khan and Do Ziddi, earning praise for his versatile performances in both Urdu and Punjabi cinema.
Shujaat Hashmi’s talent was recognized with numerous accolades, including the Pride of Performance award in 1994. His contributions to drama and film have left an enduring legacy, and he will be remembered fondly by critics and fans alike.
