Pakistan on Saturday rejected criticism from India regarding its counterterrorism operations in Afghanistan, calling the statements “absurd and unwarranted.”
Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said India’s remarks reflect frustration over the dismantling of terrorist networks it allegedly supports.
Responding to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Andrabi emphasized that Pakistan’s operations in Afghanistan are legitimate, targeted, and precise, aimed at dismantling terrorist hideouts. He accused India of actively backing groups such as Fitna-al-Khawarij and Fitna-al-Hindustan, noting that New Delhi’s criticism is “shamefully hypocritical.”
“The frustration of India at the destruction of its terrorist franchise in Afghanistan is understandable,” he said, highlighting India’s long-standing involvement in regional terrorism.
Allegations against India
Andrabi also criticized India’s domestic and regional policies, alleging human rights violations, marginalization of minorities, Islamophobia, and misuse of water resources in breach of international treaties.
He further condemned India’s occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), describing it as a violation of the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions.
“Guided by Hindutva extremist ideology, India has acted as a spoiler not only in Afghanistan but across the region,” Andrabi said.
The Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its citizens and national security under international law, including the UN Charter. Andrabi stressed that Pakistan will continue its counterterrorism measures and urged India to refrain from stoking terrorism from Afghan soil.
