Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged the global community to condemn Islamophobia in clear terms.
In a message on the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, Dar said the world must make joint efforts to eliminate factors that promote hatred and discrimination. He said all countries should take steps to promote interfaith dialogue, mutual respect and tolerance so that peace, dignity and peaceful coexistence in the world may be strengthened.
Dar said Pakistan stands with the Muslim Ummah on the International Day to Combat Islamophobia and expresses full solidarity with Muslims across the world.
He said Pakistan will continue its efforts to eliminate prejudice, discrimination and hatred against Muslims.
Dar said incidents of Islamophobia have increased to an alarming extent in recent years and such acts could pose a threat to global peace and harmony.
He said Pakistan supported a resolution at the United Nations for stronger global measures against Islamophobia.
Dar said the United Nations has appointed a special representative to address Islamophobia, while the Secretary General of the OIC has also designated a special envoy in this regard.
