Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said diplomatic contacts with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and other neighbouring countries are continuing.
In an interview with The New Arab, Abbas Araghchi said Iran would welcome any step that leads to a complete end to the war. He said Iran has not targeted civilians or residential areas in any country in the region.
He added that US-made Lucas drones could be behind attacks on certain targets in the region, while Israel may be responsible for strikes on civilian targets in Arab countries.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi taunted the United States, saying it has been forced to beg China for help in securing the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, he said the Strait of Hormuz remains open to all except the United States and its allies. He said the American security umbrella in the region now has many holes and, instead of preventing difficulties, it is inviting them.
Abbas Araghchi also claimed that US forces carried out strikes on Iran’s Kharg Island on Friday using HIMARS missile systems fired from near Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah. He said Iran will respond to the attacks but will ensure that civilian populations are not harmed.
