Multan Sultans have appointed former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat as director of cricket to secure the franchise’s long-term vision.
Chief Executive Officer Gohar Shah said the move formed part of a broader plan to build sustained success in franchise cricket. He said a long-term roadmap, rather than a season-to-season approach, remained essential for establishing a strong side.

He said Yasir Arafat possessed the foresight and cricketing pedigree required for the role, adding that his understanding of the modern game aligned with the franchise’s ambition to create a self-sustaining culture of excellence.
Gohar Shah said the appointment placed the future of Multan Sultans in capable hands, describing Arafat as one of the sharpest minds in the sport.
Yasir Arafat said he felt honoured to take up the position, adding that the franchise’s commitment to high standards and its connection with the people of South Punjab.
He said he would formally assume charge after the current season, adding that his focus remained on a long-term project aimed at consistent title contention and the development of world-class cricketing talent.
