The closure of the government’s firewall project and the alleged loss of billions of rupees came under sharp criticism in the Senate, after Samaa TV highlighted the issue.
JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza raised the matter in the Upper House, questioning the fate of the multi-billion-rupee initiative.
During the Senate proceedings, Senator Kamran Murtaza strongly criticized the government over the reported closure of the firewall project. He stated that the firewall had been removed, resulting in a waste of Rs40 billion of public money.
‘Billions wasted’
The senator said that when the project was launched, several advantages and benefits of the firewall were highlighted. However, he noted that the project has now been shut down, raising serious questions about accountability and transparency.

He termed the situation a massive financial loss and demanded clarity on how such a large sum could be spent without long-term results.
Govt silent on the issue
Despite the seriousness of the matter, no federal minister presented the government’s official stance during the Senate session.
The government’s silence on the firewall closure drew further criticism, as opposition members called for an explanation regarding the alleged Rs40 billion loss.
