Tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border escalated again as Hezbollah declared that Israeli attacks “cannot continue without response.” The statement came as Israel issued urgent displacement orders for dozens of areas in southern Lebanon.
In a message posted on Telegram, Hezbollah described its recent missile attacks on Israel as a “defensive act” and a “legitimate right.” The group accused Israel of carrying out 15 months of aggression against Lebanon in violation of a 2024 ceasefire agreement.
“All political and diplomatic efforts have failed to curb this aggression or compel Israel to implement the ceasefire agreement and its requirements,” Hezbollah said.
The group added that repeated warnings had gone unheeded. “Aggression without a response cannot continue, and assassinations and destruction cannot continue,” the statement read.
Lebanese govt moves to limit Hezbollah
The remarks followed an announcement by Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, who declared a ban on Hezbollah’s military activities. He stated that the group’s role would be restricted to the political sphere moving forward.
The move signals mounting pressure within Lebanon as cross-border hostilities intensify.
Israel Issues mass displacement orders
Meanwhile, the Israeli military issued what it described as an “urgent warning” to residents in at least 59 areas across Lebanon, most of them in the south.
In a post on X, Israeli military Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee urged civilians to evacuate immediately, citing Hezbollah activities in the targeted zones.
“For your safety, you must evacuate your homes immediately and stay away from the villages by at least 1,000 meters,” Adraee wrote. He warned that anyone near Hezbollah facilities or combat elements would be placing themselves in danger.
