Speculation around Apple’s long-awaited foldable smartphone is heating up again.
A new rumor from China now claims the device may launch under a completely different name — iPhone Ultra.
The foldable device is widely expected to debut alongside the next-generation iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max later this year.
For years, tech insiders and analysts have referred to Apple’s first foldable smartphone as the “iPhone Fold.” However, the latest rumor suggests the company may instead brand the device as the iPhone Ultra.
If the claim proves accurate, the foldable device could become Apple’s most premium smartphone yet, positioned above the Pro models.
The rumored launch window points to fall 2026, when Apple traditionally unveils its flagship iPhone lineup.
Apple reportedly planning trio of ‘ultra’ devices
According to the rumor, Apple may introduce a new Ultra product lineup across multiple categories.
The three devices reportedly include:
-
iPhone Ultra – Apple’s first foldable smartphone
-
AirPods Ultra – advanced earbuds reportedly featuring built-in cameras
-
MacBook Ultra – a premium laptop rumored to feature an OLED touchscreen
If unveiled together, these devices would represent the most expensive and advanced offerings in Apple’s respective product lines.
Rumoured pricing details
The report also hints at premium pricing for the foldable iPhone.
According to the rumor:
-
The entry-level iPhone Ultra could start at over CNY 10,000 (around $1,446).
-
The highest-end variant may exceed CNY 20,000 (approximately $2,893).
While the starting price appears slightly lower than some earlier predictions, the large price gap between entry and top-tier models remains unclear.
At this stage, the information remains unconfirmed, and Apple has not commented on the rumors.
Tech industry leaks frequently circulate ahead of major product launches, but final branding, features, and pricing often change before official announcements.
