Indian stand-up star Zakir Khan has clarified that his recently announced break from comedy will not be as long as some fans feared.
The comedian revealed that he plans to return to the stage after roughly two years, stressing that he has no intention of quitting live comedy.
Khan, 38, shared the update during an interview with ANI through a video message. He addressed speculation surrounding his future in stand-up after announcing a hiatus earlier this year.
According to the comedian, the break is mainly about personal time rather than stepping away from comedy permanently.
“I have no intention of quitting live comedy,” Khan clarified during the conversation.
Focus on health and personal growth
The popular performer said he wants to use the time to reconnect with people and focus on his well-being.
Khan explained that he hopes to “live like a student” again while also taking better care of his health.
He added that the break will likely last around one-and-a-half to two years, which he described as “not very long.”
Earlier announcement sparked confusion
In January 2026, Khan surprised fans when he announced a long break from stand-up during a live show in Hyderabad.
During the performance, the star of Comicstaan and the creator behind the popular act Farzi Mushaira told the audience he might stay away from live comedy for several years.
“I’m going on a long, long break. Probably till 2028–29, or even 2030,” he had said at the time.
Khan also explained then that he wanted time to take care of his health and sort out a few personal matters.
While addressing the crowd during the show, Khan thanked his supporters for their continued love.
He told the audience that their presence meant more to him than they could imagine and said he would always remain grateful for their support.
