The Gwadar district administration has officially suspended the corridor system that allowed residents to travel to Iran, issuing a notification stating that the facility will remain halted until further notice.
According to a statement from the Assistant Commissioner’s office in Gwadar, no new passes will be issued for travel to Iran under the corridor system.
Previously, the system enabled residents of border areas to cross between Pakistan and Iran without requiring a visa or passport. This facility was specifically designed for individuals living in the border regions of both countries.
Local residents have expressed concern that the suspension will disrupt interactions between families on either side of the border and make cross-border travel more difficult.
The corridor system has long been a convenient travel arrangement for the local population, facilitating movement and maintaining social ties across the border.
