Adviser to the prime minister, Rana Sanaullah claimed on Tuesday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan does not intend to hold talks with the political parties but seeks negotiations and a deal with the establishment.
Speaking on the Samaa TV programme 'Nadeem Malik Live', Sanaullah said that as long as Imran Khan remains in jail, the PTI will not engage in dialogue with other political groups. He added that Imran Khan is not rigidly opposed but wishes to negotiate with the establishment and secure a deal.
Sanaullah stated that the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has confirmed that he will not engage with political parties. He said any meeting with the PTI founder cannot be used to support an anti-state narrative, and that PTI should contact the authorities directly if it seeks negotiations.
Regarding Afghanistan, Sanaullah said Pakistan does not intend to occupy territory, adding that operations will continue until Afghanistan provides guarantees, and any bases established will be dismantled if necessary.
He maintained that the Afghan Taliban regime was presented with evidence of terrorist training camps, did not deny the evidence, but expressed reluctance to act against the TTP. "The Taliban were also unwilling to act against Pakistan’s operations, and all bases in Afghanistan linked to terrorism in Pakistan have been neutralised," he maintained.
Sanaullah added that both the political and military leadership have fully informed Iran and Saudi Arabia of the situation, and no arrangements have been made with the United States that could give rise to complaints. He said that Pakistan is in a position of confidence with Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.
