Nicki Minaj is facing a fresh legal complication in her ongoing $10 million lawsuit. Her second attorney has now stepped away from the case, forcing the rapper to secure new legal representation.
The “Super Bass” singer has encountered another shake-up in her legal team as the high-stakes lawsuit continues.
Attorney Matthew Abbott confirmed that he has sought to withdraw from representing Minaj. His departure marks the second change in legal counsel since the case was filed.
Lawsuit filed by former fan
The lawsuit was brought by former fan Tameer Peak and refiled in late 2025.
While details of the claims remain part of the broader court proceedings, the case seeks $10 million in damages and has drawn significant public attention.
Legal team changes continue
Matthew Abbott had previously replaced Minaj’s first attorney, Judd Burstein.
Earlier, Burstein described the lawsuit as “entirely frivolous” and stated that his withdrawal had nothing to do with the merits of the case. He did not provide further explanation at the time.
Abbott, in his request to withdraw, said he had attempted to reach the rapper multiple times in recent months but received no response.
He has asked the court to grant Minaj additional time to secure new legal representation.
The latest legal development comes shortly after Minaj publicly expressed support for Donald Trump.
The timing has added another layer of scrutiny to the rapper’s ongoing legal challenges.
