President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian people during their time of grief.
In his statement, the president said Pakistan shares Iran’s sorrow and that the passing of such a prominent leader would be deeply felt across the Muslim world. He prayed for patience and strength for the Iranian nation in this difficult time.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader.
The prime minister stated that Pakistan stands with its Iranian brothers and sisters in mourning and extended heartfelt sympathies to the people of Iran.
He also expressed concern over violations of international law, noting that, according to established norms, heads of state should not be targeted.
Shehbaz Sharif further offered prayers for the departed leader and asked for strength and resilience for the Iranian people to bear the loss.
