Pakistan’s mobile phone market continues its rapid expansion, with more than two million new cellular subscribers added in just one month, according to sources at the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The latest figures highlight sustained growth in mobile connectivity and next-generation internet usage across the country.
PTA sources said more than two million new cellular users were added in January 2026 alone. The number of mobile phone users in December 2025 stood at 205.5 million. By January, the total number of mobile users reached 225.75 million, reflecting continued expansion in the telecom sector.
Officials say the number of mobile phone users continues to increase rapidly month after month.
Surge in 3G, 4G subscribers
The growth is not limited to basic mobile connections. According to PTA data, the number of 3G and 4G users has reached 153.325 million. The penetration rate of next-generation mobile services also recorded an increase, rising from 60.32% to 61.32%.
This indicates that more Pakistanis are shifting toward faster mobile internet services for communication, business, and digital access.
Pakistan’s overall teledensity, which measures the number of telephone connections for every 100 individuals, has also shown improvement.
The total teledensity increased from 81.33% to 82%, according to PTA sources. This steady rise reflects broader access to mobile and telecom services across urban and rural areas alike.
Telecom sector maintains upward trajectory
The consistent growth in cellular subscribers, 3G/4G users, and overall teledensity demonstrates the resilience and expansion of Pakistan’s telecom industry.
With more than two million new subscribers added in a single month, the sector continues to play a central role in digital connectivity and economic activity nationwide.
