Canada has followed suit, shutting down its embassy in Riyadh and canceling all appointments through March 6.

All US missions in Saudi Arabia shut
The US Embassy in Riyadh announced that all US missions in Saudi Arabia will remain closed today. Routine activities and emergency American Citizen Services appointments have been canceled.

The embassy stated that the “shelter-in-place” directive for Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dhahran remains in effect.
Americans advised to stay indoors
US authorities have instructed American citizens in Saudi Arabia to remain confined to their homes or other safe locations. They have also been told to avoid traveling to embassy premises until further notice due to the reported attack on the embassy.

Canada also closes embassy
Following the US decision, the Canadian Embassy Riyadh announced it is closing its diplomatic mission due to the security situation.
All appointments scheduled until March 6 have been canceled, the embassy confirmed. Canadian officials cited safety concerns as the primary reason for suspending operations.
The closure of multiple diplomatic missions highlights the seriousness of the current security environment in the Gulf.
