In north-eastern Australia’s state of Queensland, a large snake entered the bathroom of a house during the night, prompting residents to summon a local snake catcher shortly after midnight to remove the carpet python.
A local snake-catching service shared a video of the incident, showing the handler arriving at the house in the small hours to capture the reptile. The footage shows the catcher, identified as Wally, opening the bathroom door to find a sizeable carpet python slithering across the floor.
In a social media post, three possible explanations were offered as to how the snake reached the bathroom. It may have fallen through the ceiling via a vent, slipped inside unnoticed during the day and remained concealed until nightfall, or, in jest, that a witch in the house had taken the form of a serpent.
The snake was later removed safely from the property and released into nearby bushland.
