Terrorism flourishing under the patronage of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan has become a grave threat to peace and stability in the region.
China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, also delivered sharp criticism of the Taliban regime and urged it to eliminate all terrorist elements operating from Afghan territory.
Addressing the United Nations, Fu Cong said groups including Fitna al-Khawarij, ETIM, Daesh and other militant organisations remain active in Afghanistan. According to him, these organisations pose a serious threat to neighbouring countries.
Fu Cong said Chinese citizens had also come under attack in Afghanistan, resulting in several deaths. China has strongly condemned every form of terrorism originating from Afghanistan.
He called on the Afghan Taliban to acknowledge the serious threat posed by terrorism and to eradicate all militant elements operating on their soil.
Global analysts said that cooperation between India and Afghanistan presents a serious challenge to regional peace. Afghanistan, under the patronage of the Afghan Taliban regime, has become a sanctuary for militant groups.
Voices raised across the world echo Pakistan’s position that the Afghan Taliban remain involved in backing terrorist elements.
