Veteran Pakistani actor Asim Bukhari has passed away in Lahore at the age of 82, bringing an end to a remarkable career spanning decades. The senior actor was undergoing treatment at a private hospital and had been in a coma before his death.
According to reports, Asim Bukhari was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Lahore where he had fallen into a coma. His health had deteriorated due to severe heart, kidney, and lung diseases, which had become increasingly critical in recent days.
The news of his passing has saddened fans and members of Pakistan’s entertainment industry who remember him for his long-standing contributions to television and film.
The late actor leaves behind a grieving family. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, who are mourning the loss of their beloved father.
Decades-long career
Asim Bukhari was among the senior figures of Pakistan’s television industry. He began his acting career with Pakistan Television (PTV) in 1965, a time when television drama was still in its early stages in the country.

Famous work and achievements
During his long career, the veteran actor worked in more than 200 films, establishing himself as a prominent figure in Pakistani cinema. In recognition of his contributions to the arts, the government of Pakistan awarded him the Pride of Performance in 2014, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.
It is pertinent to note that last year, in 2025, the actor had been admitted to hospital after suffering a heart attack. According to hospital sources, the veteran actor was also facing complications with his lungs, which are reportedly not functioning properly.
