The United Arab Emirates has announced a major relaxation for residents whose visas or residency permits have expired, allowing many stranded abroad to return without applying for a new visa.
The UAE government has introduced new measures easing rules for people whose residency visas have expired.
Under the latest decision, individuals whose residency permits have expired will be allowed to re-enter the UAE without obtaining a new visa.
The move is part of a broader effort to simplify regulations and provide relief to residents affected by travel disruptions and administrative issues.
Stranded residents abroad can now return
According to a UAE spokesperson, the decision will benefit residents who were stranded outside the country. This includes residents from several countries, including Pakistan, who were unable to return after their residency permits expired.
With the new relaxation, these individuals will now be able to travel back to the UAE using their previous residency status, without going through the process of applying for a fresh visa.
Federal authority confirms
The decision has been formally confirmed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security.
Officials stated that the new rules are designed to ease regulations related to expired residency permits, making it easier for affected residents to return and resume their lives and work in the UAE.
The policy change is expected to bring relief to many expatriates who were previously facing uncertainty due to expired residency visas while staying abroad.
