US President Donald Trump said the “fake media” had circulated misleading reports about damage to US aircraft at an air base in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement posted on social media, Trump said inaccurate reports were broadcast regarding the Saudi airport and the condition of US Air Force tanker aircraft after an Iranian missile strike.
He said the base had come under attack a few days earlier but the aircraft were neither struck nor destroyed.
“Four of the five had virtually no damage and are already back in service,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “One had slightly more damage but will be in the air shortly.”
Trump accused the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal of circulating incorrect reports and said the “fake media” wished to see the United States lose the conflict.
He also said the Strait of Hormuz would be opened soon under all circumstances.
