The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have drawn up a traffic management plan ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr as shopping activity gathers pace in markets across the capital.
According to details surfaced on Saturday, the ITP spokesperson said 470 traffic officers have been deployed at markets throughout the city to regulate the expected rush of shoppers.
Strict action has been announced against hooliganism in markets, as well as drifting and one-wheeling on main roads.
Citizens visiting markets for shopping will receive guidance and assistance from traffic officials, the spokesman said.
The traffic police urged motorists to park their vehicles only in designated parking areas.
Residents were also asked to report any incidents of hooliganism, one-wheeling or drifting by calling the traffic helpline number 1915 or Pukar-15, the spokesman added.
