The Islamabad High Court has made no progress in hearing the petitions filed by TikToker and YouTuber Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala seeking removal of their names from the travel ban list, adjourning the case until March 26.
A hearing was held at the Islamabad High Court on the petitions filed by Rajab Butt and Nadeem Naniwala. The case was presided over by Justice Muhammad Azam Khan.
The petitioners were represented in court by Barrister Raja Qadeer Janjua and lawyer Ahad Khokhar.
During the proceedings, the government failed to submit its response and requested additional time to do so.
Barrister Qadeer Janjua informed the court that due to the travel ban, the petitioners’ visas were nearing expiration. In response, the judge inquired about the exact dates of expiry.
The petitioners’ counsel stated that one visa would expire within March, while the other would expire at a later date.
The court questioned the government lawyer on why a response had not yet been submitted despite the urgency, particularly given the visa expiry issue. The government lawyer requested that the hearing be scheduled after Eid, assuring that a response would be filed by then.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan remarked that since the visa issue was pressing, the case would be heard immediately after Eid. Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing until March 26.
