Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Sunday the government would ensure targeted relief for the public amid continuing challenges arising from the Middle East crisis, adding that the uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel and LPG would continue.
Expressing his thoughts, the finance minister said: “We must all work together to steer the country out of crisis.” He said the government was also examining the impact of the situation on trade.
“There are proposals which may lead us towards improved growth,” he said.
Aurangzeb expressed hope that the supply position would remain stable until April.
He said the government would move towards targeted relief, adding that national resources were not unlimited.
“We are striving to place the least possible burden on the public,” he said, adding that the situation might persist for several weeks or months.
He expressed hope that war conditions would end soon.
The federal minister said the supply of petrol, diesel and LPG remained uninterrupted.
He said the government had absorbed a burden of Rs69 billion, adding that the prime minister had decided that the least possible burden should fall upon the nation.
“We are determined to maintain a steady supply of oil,” he said.
He added that Atta Tarar and Ali Pervaiz had also briefed on the situation.
“The world is facing difficulties,” the finance minister said.
