A well-known businessman was shot dead during a robbery at his farmhouse in Margalla Town, raising serious concerns about security in the federal capital. CCTV footage of armed suspects entering the house has also surfaced.
The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town police station, where businessman Amir Safdar Awan was killed.
According to police, five armed suspects entered the farmhouse and opened fire inside the bedroom, fatally injuring Awan. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
A case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s wife. In her statement, she said she was in the bedroom with her husband, while their sons Asad and Aryan were asleep in their rooms.
She woke up to find three robbers fighting with her husband, while two others stood outside holding weapons.
Suspects fired shots
According to the FIR, the suspects shot Amir Awan in the stomach, causing critical injuries. After the attack, the robbers fled the scene, escaping through the window.
They also snatched weapons and mobile phones from the security guards before fleeing.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the suspects carrying Kalashnikovs as they entered the farmhouse. Police confirmed that all five suspects were armed and had entered the property by cutting through the security fence.
Authorities say the footage will play a key role in identifying and tracking down the attackers.
The victim’s wife stated that family members and security staff would be able to identify the suspects if presented before them. This could significantly aid the investigation as police continue to gather evidence.
Police have initiated a full-scale investigation into the murder and robbery. Raids are currently underway to arrest the suspects involved in the attack.
Interior minister assures arrests
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said that the suspects will soon be brought to justice.
He stated that 100% of the accused in previous murder and robbery cases in Islamabad have been arrested, expressing confidence that those involved in this case will also be apprehended.
The incident has raised alarm over the safety of residents, with concerns that even homes in the federal capital are no longer secure. Authorities are under pressure to ensure swift action and restore public confidence.
