Ishaq Dar is set to visit China on March 31 for high-level talks, despite a recent shoulder injury, highlighting the importance Pakistan places on its strategic partnership with Beijing.
According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar will undertake the visit at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
The visit comes as part of the long-standing strategic relationship between Pakistan and China, with both sides expected to discuss key regional developments, bilateral cooperation, and broader global issues.
Officials said the talks will include detailed discussions on the evolving regional situation and international challenges.
The visit is also expected to further strengthen consultation mechanisms between the two countries on global matters, reinforcing their diplomatic coordination.
Visit despite medical advice
The Foreign Office confirmed that Ishaq Dar was advised to rest following a recent shoulder injury.
Despite this, he chose to proceed with the visit, underlining Pakistan’s commitment to its ties with China.
Dar’s son, Ali Dar, revealed that the deputy prime minister sustained the injury while receiving the Egyptian foreign minister.
He said that despite the incident, Ishaq Dar continued to perform his official duties and completed the meeting successfully.
Medical examination later confirmed a hairline fracture in his shoulder, which is being managed through medication.
Officials described the visit as a reflection of the deep-rooted and “all-weather” friendship between the two countries.
Even amid health concerns, Dar’s decision to travel signals the significance Islamabad attaches to its diplomatic engagement with Beijing.
