Sindh government has declared a public holiday on April 4 to mark the 47th death anniversary of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has also revised its plans for the day.
The Sindh Services and General Administration Department has issued an official notification declaring April 4 as a public holiday.
According to the notification, all government institutions, including municipal councils, will remain closed across the province on the day.
The holiday marks the 47th death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founder of the Pakistan Peoples Party and former prime minister. The day is observed annually with various political and public gatherings across Sindh.
PPP cancels traditional rally
This year, however, the PPP has decided to cancel its traditional rally scheduled for April 4. The decision was taken in view of the prevailing national situation, though specific details were not disclosed.
Instead of large public gatherings, the PPP will organize Quran recitation events at district headquarters across Sindh. These gatherings will serve as a more subdued way to commemorate Bhutto’s legacy.
