National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) predicted three heat wave spells in May and June.
As per NDMA, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Tindullah Yar, Matiari and Sanghar will be under the grip of severe heat.
“Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan districts are at risk of heat wave,” NDMA said in an advisory issued about the heat wave in the wake of the summer season.
As per the advisory, temperatures may reach 40 degrees during May 15 to 30.
First, second and third heat wave spells
The first spell of heat wave will last for two to three days. At the end of May, there will be a second heat wave spell that will last for four to five days.
The temperatures are likely to touch 45 degrees in June. NDMA spokesperson said a third spell of heatwave is likely in the first 10 days of June.

Who will be affected?
The NDMA said humans and other living beings will be affected by heat waves and advised to take measures before the anticipated first spell or series of hate waves across the country.
The second heat wave will continue for four to five days.
The third special will affect Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Badin and Khairpur.
During a heatwave, afternoon land temperatures are often higher than air temperatures because the land retains heat.
Pakistan witnessed the worst heat wave in 2022.
Amnesty International 2022 report said that extreme heat can be deadly, especially for children, older people, people with disabilities and chronic diseases, and consequences of heatwaves on human health include impacts on the body’s ability to regulate its temperature resulting in heat strokes, cramps, and exacerbate existing health issues.
It can lead to chronic diseases like diabetes and can result in death or accelerated illness.
The heat waves from March to mid-June are now followed by the onset of the monsoon in parts of the country with flash flood warnings and torrential rains causing loss of life and damage to property.
